I am an avid reader and enjoy hunting for a good book. I love to keep on top of latest book news, follow new authors etc. Looking back, I realize passion for reading had never left my side although I dropped and assumed other hobbies. And it is a good thing. Because it made me a better writer.
Anyways, in this post I want to share with you 6 books that inspired me so much to the point that it was truly life changing in many aspects. These are the books you can pick up any day and start reading with an assurance of gaining few valuable lessons.
So without further ado, let’s begin.
6 Inspiring Books that Changed My Life
Joe Dispenza’s Becoming Supernatural
Boy, oh boy this one is indeed supernatural! I am not new to the works of Dr.Joe. My interest in him began when I started taking meditation pretty seriously which happened in the past year.

In this book, Becoming Supernatural, Dr.Joe writes about the power of human mind and how it can transcend any limitations and boundaries. As he states in the book “The only way to become “supernatural” is we have to start doing what feels unnatural – then keep doing it over and over again. We can create better lives for ourselves.”. Yes, it is easier said than done but Dr.Joe with his medical background provides concrete evidence and methodology on how exactly we can achieve this. And trust me, once he is through you will be a believer like me. One way to begin the journey to supernatural is to become familiar with yourself. And Meditation helps you with that. Oh, and did I mention? I finished reading this book in 2 days!
Jack Canfield’s The Success Principles
Who doesn’t know Jack Canfield? Renowned author and motivational speaker, I first came across his works through Chicken Soup for the Soul series. If you are not familiar with chicken soup books, they are a collection of inspiring, true stories of ordinary people having extra ordinary experiences in life. I grew up reading them and always believed in the possibility of magic in everyday life. In this book, The Success Principles Jack teaches you how to increase your confidence, tackle daily challenges, live with passion and purpose, and realize all your ambitions. Not merely a collection of good ideas, this book spells out the 67 timeless principles and practices used by the world’s most successful men and women. Taken together and practiced every day, these principles will transform your life beyond your wildest dreams. I am still reading this book, all 67 principles laid out in over 600 pages! He has also created a workbook to go along with the book which definitely helps in putting the principles into practice.
Esther and Jerry Hick’s The Law of Attraction
Long before I started reading Esther and Jerry Hicks’ books, I used to listen to their tapes. Esther through a group of nonphysical entities named Abraham has presented numerous workshops and written books on law of attraction, power of mind and how we are all connected to One Source. Recently, I picked up The Law of Attraction from our digital library hoping to learn more about how it all works. And I am glad I did! This book contains some of the most powerful and original teachings of Abraham, the metaphysical entity. You’ll learn how all things, wanted and unwanted, are brought to you by this most powerful law of the universe, the Law of Attraction. (that which is like unto itself is drawn). It is about the understanding that just about everything that’s happening in your own life as well as in the lives of those you’re interacting with happens for a reason. This book will help you to joyously be, do, or have anything that you desire-what you will come to understand by reading this book is truly life changing!
Eckhart Tolle’s A New Earth
I am embarrassed to admit I wasn’t familiar with Eckhart Tolle until a year ago. One day at my work, I was chatting with my HR manager (who is a good friend of mine!) and she handed me a book called The Power of Now with a question, “Do you know this author?”. I read the name and drew a blank. But I made my mission to find out everything about him since then because the book was sooo good, I couldn’t put it down until I was finished with it! Tolle is a philosopher, speaker and best selling author who has written many books on the power of mind and how important it is to acknowledge the present moment. He does not identify with any particular religion nor does he act like a Guru of some sort. His mission is to help people to awaken to their life’s purpose and all of his books reflect what he would like to see in the world. I came across A New Earth through Oprah’s Book club recommendation. She also did a show where she featured people from every walk of life who read the book and had an impact on their life one way or another. I happened to watch that show and guess what I did next? Right, I got the book and read. I recommend you read too. In A New Earth, Tolle expands on these powerful ideas to show how transcending our ego-based state of consciousness is not only essential to personal happiness, but also the key to ending conflict and suffering throughout the world. Tolle describes how our attachment to the ego creates the dysfunction that leads to anger, jealousy, and unhappiness, and shows readers how to awaken to a new state of consciousness and follow the path to a truly fulfilling existence.
Dr. Elizabeth Blackburn and Dr.Elissa Epel’s The Telomere Effect
I know this is a medical book and you might think it really has no place in a list of motivational books. But let me explain. How many of you know what a Telomere is? If you were like me, you probably have no clue what that is. Well, they are essential part of human cells and can be found in the end of our DNA strands. They are the caps that protect our DNA from unraveling, think plastic caps at the end of your shoe laces. Their job is to keep you healthy and increase your life span. It also means, healthy long telomeres can give you long life and significantly reduce the disease span in your life. But do we even know about their existence in our body or the importance of what it can do for our well being? Exactly! Knowledge is power. In the book, The Telomere Effect you will learn that your sleep quality, exercise, aspects of diet and even certain chemicals profoundly affect our telomeres, and that chronic stress, negative thoughts, strained relationships and even the wrong neighborhood can eat away at them. Drawing from this scientific body of knowledge, the authors share lists of foods and suggests amounts and types of exercise that are healthy for our telomeres, mind tricks to compact stress and many more strategies to stay disease free longer to lead a meaningful life. And that’s what I call life changing to the T! Oh, an interesting piece of info- Dr.Blackburn is a Nobel prize winner in 2009 for her works in decoding the telomere.
Dr. Deepak Chopra’s Metahuman
I am a fan of Deepak Chopra. I began my meditation journey by participating in his 21 Days of Meditation. It was a great start for a newbie like me. After completing my 21 days, I moved on to other meditation practices he recommended and then gradually transitioned to deeper longer and more involved meditations taught by Joe Dispenza and other teachers. Dr. Deepak Chopra has written zillions of books on meditation and spiritual wellness and has co authored a ton more with other people as well. His book Metahuman is comparatively new (his latest is Total Meditation which I have read, although not sure if he has a newer one out already. He keeps himself busy I guess!) In Metahuman, Deepak invites us to expand our consciousness in all that we think, say and do. By going beyond, we liberate ourselves from old conditioning and all the mental constructs that underlie anxiety, tension and ego driven demands. Waking up allows life to make sense as never before. And that’s what makes this book life changing in my opinion.
