It is a great way to get into the spirit of the season and make your space smell great!
DIY Holiday Scented Potpourri
Supplies
Glass jar with lid
Fresh cranberries, about ½ cup (fresh only, do not use dried or candied cranberries)
5-7 fresh pine springs (any variety of pine will do)
2 dried cinnamon sticks
1 tablespoon of dried cloves
1 teaspoon of nutmeg powder (optional)
Water
We found the supplies we used here in a variety of places. Pine sprigs can be found in your own backyard or at a local greenhouse or tree farm. You can get fresh cranberries at any grocer for about $1 a bag, and dried cloves and nutmeg powder for about $3 a container.

Your local dollar store may have the dried cinnamon sticks for just $1 a bag. If not, check your local grocer. You can use any glass jar you have on hand, or find one at your local dollar store as well.
Once you have all of these sweet-smelling supplies, you are ready to begin!
Directions
1. Begin by placing all of the ingredients into the jar. Press them down so they stay inside the jar and don’t creep out of the top. If it seems as though something is too long (such as a pine sprig or cinnamon stick) just cut it down with a knife or scissors. The sticks can even be snapped in half.
2. Fill the jar up with room temperature water. Water right out of the tap is fine.

3. Secure the lid to the jar tightly. Let the jar sit at room temperature for about 24-48 hours to really absorb the ingredients.
When you are ready to use your DIY holiday scented potpourri, pour the contents into a saucepan. Heat the contents on low until simmering. You will right away notice a woodsy, sweet scent coming from the saucepan! The scent will fill the air and continue to do so until you remove it from the heat. When done, remove the saucepan from the heat and allow it to cool. Once the mixture is cool to the touch, transfer it back to the jar and replace the lid. You can then place it in the refrigerator until needed again. When needed, simply pour it back into the saucepan and reheat.

You can use the contents several times or until you notice the scent has faded.
It is such a great way to freshen up your space and really get it smelling great for the holidays!

You are welcome.
