This is the first post in the “Halloween 2014” series. I will showcase a few Halloween crafts ideas and recipes to get your Halloween season going with a bang! Last year, a series was done on “Halloween 2013” and it was so popular among my readers. As a matter of fact, its’ been read with great interest even today so I thought of creating a fresh Halloween series this year for everyone! Be sure to check out last year’s series as well since you are here anyway 😉 Enjoy!
Spiders and Halloween go hand in hand! If you love the look of creepy crawly spiders, then you must give this Halloween spooky spider vase a try. This spooky spider case is a fantastic Halloween craft for young and old alike. This “spooktacular” Halloween craft can be made using just a few supplies from your local dollar store, and the end result is a cool vase perfect for holding flowers, candy, even votives. Take a peek below at how you can craft your own spooky spider vase. Hurry, Halloween is coming and you won’t want to miss out on this one!
Halloween Craft Idea- Spooky Spider Vase
Here is what you will need
Glass jelly or canning jar, don’t worry about a lid as you won’t need it
Thick ribbon or burlap
Halloween ribbon, thin (we picked purple)
Plastic spider in your choice of size, color
Craft or hot glue, glue gun
Scissors
As you can see, everything we used here can be purchased at your local Dollar Tree store. Total cost for this project will run you just a few dollars, making it a frugal and fun activity to enjoy. If you wish, you can use different colored ribbons or even plastic spiders. The choice is up to you and depends on what you have available. Feel free to follow the project as it is here or add your own spin to really make it personal.
Directions
1. Begin by cutting a length of burlap or thick ribbon. Wrap it around the jar to fit. Secure it to the jar with craft or hot glue and a glue gun.
2. Layer another ribbon over the thick strip. A bright and colorful thin ribbon works great. Wrap it tightly, cut it to fit, and secure again with glue.
3. You can now add the plastic spider. Be generous with some glue on the underside of the spider and press it to the ribbon. Hold it in place until it is secure.
Your spooky spider vase is now ready to be used. For ours, we placed some purple and black roses, also found at our local Dollar Tree inside. You can do the same, or opt to put candy or other decorative pieces.
Give this easy and inexpensive spooky spider vase a try. It is a great way to add some spookiness to your home without spending a great deal of dough! Whether you want to craft it yourself or enjoy the activity with your children, it makes the perfect Halloween craft.
