My son Kevin returned to school early this month.
While he didn’t like the idea of going back to the grind by rising early from his warm bed in the morning and cutting down on his screen time while eating breakfast (yeah, don’t judge me please 🙁 ), he was happy to be reunited with his friends back in school all the same!
He was also excited about his new backpack and lunch bag and he knew that to get his hands on both, school is a “necessary evil” to have 🙂
So, in a nutshell, back to school in our household went well after a few rough patches.
Kevin adjusted to his routine pretty fast than I expected and I had to reward him for that!Thankfully, Netflix in September was prepared just for that!
Netflix knows that as our little ones get ready for another year of pencils and books, it’s a good time for them to start brushing up on some basic skills. While the summer months are fun, it can be hard for kids to get back in the swing of things come September.
Netflix made my job easier in helping Kevin with these “Back to Basics” by selecting a list of titles to help his thinking caps back in gear!
For younger kids, back to school ABCs and 123s can be daunting. Kevin is yet to get his numbers and alphabets on track. It looked like Netflix knew my mind and went to select titles focused on reading and math this month! It was fantastic! Kevin is enjoying some of the shows from the list on his scheduled TV time during the day while unknowingly polishing his ABC and number skills. And what is even better? I don’t even have to go after him to do this. Ha! Perfect!
Check out these titles currently playing in Netflix just for the little ones!
- Thomas & Friends: Thomas & His Friends Help Out
- Monster Math Squad
- Curious George
- Super Why!
- My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
- Signing Time
- Animal ABCs
- LeapFrog: Numbers Ahoy
Netflix has your big kids covered too!
For bigger kids it’s often social skills that become a source of anxiety; acceptance and doing the right thing, and other life lessons are important for kids finding their way in the world. Titles like Glee will help reinforce the building blocks of self-esteem and social skills.

So you see, Netflix really went above and beyond to help you and me prepare our kiddos to go back to school in style this month!
