I always get excited and proud when I am approached by local businesses to perform reviews or offer feedback for their services on my blog. Nothing could make me happier than sharing the team spirit of the business enterprises in my own city and becoming a tool in promoting their endeavours.
And the story was no different when Vicinity contacted me to take a look at their program, which was launched in May of this year in Greater Toronto Area and across the province of Ontario.
What is Vicinity, you ask?
Glad to answer that question- Vicinity is a loyalty program which is part of Rogers Communications and dedicated to the success of local businesses in Canada. This program offers chances for small retail businesses to forge relationships with their customers by offering points when they transact business. If you are familiar with the workings of the loyalty cards like HBC reward points, President’s Choice points or Esso Extra points, then you would easily understand what Vicinity stands for. But there is a difference. Vicinity helps you as a customer to earn points when you dine or shop at small retail businesses like I went to Philly, Mabel’s Bakery, Gushi Japanese Street Food or Dark Horse Espresso Bar. Some of the other stores that they are currently partnered with this program include Tech Source Canada, Zen Spa and West End Comics. To see the full list of Toronto businesses (there are 100’s of them) that are in alliance with Vicinity, please visit their website.
The advantage for the customer in using a Vicinity card is that he or she is recognized and rewarded for shopping and dining at the businesses in their neighbourhood. The customer needs to use only one card which can be picked up from any participating local business and it can be used to collect rewards from all partnering stores in the Vicinity network. The rewards accounts can be accessed online or through the Vicinity mobile app for Android and iPhone smartphones.
Aren’t you curious to find out whether that favorite store of yours is covered under the Vicinity network? Go take a peek at the list NOW!
****Disclosure: I was provided with a pre-loaded Vicinity card for testing purposes. All opinions expressed here are my own and they are honest*****

What a smart way for local businesses to team up and reward their customers.
